Join the revolution.

On the way home over Thanksgiving, we made a few-hour stop in Chicago. Em took us to one of her favorite places (which has quickly become one of our favorite places), Revolution Brewing. I wouldn't consider beer to be my drink of choice (fun fact: I can't burp), but -- as introduced by Nick -- with the right atmosphere or food to accompany it, I do love a good beer (particularly Belgian ales). Revolution Brewing has an extensive craft beer list and a spectacular seasonal menu.

Em's recommendation for me, the Goose Island "Sofie": light and crisp, slightly fruity; reminiscent of one of my other apple-y favorites, Unibroue Ephémère:

Feeding my recent obsession with burrata, an arugula and frisée salad with marcona almonds, Lambic-poached plum (!!!), balsamic, and an almond pesto (probably one of my favorite salads to date):

Bacon fat-drizzled popcorn (yes, you read that right) with grated Parmesan and sage (sinfully delicious):

I rarely go for the pizza option (especially when there are bacon cheeseburgers to be had), but the cremini flatbread pizza with goat cheese, truly legit béchamel, tarragon, and truffle oil was a sound life decision:

Of course, all of this made me an utterly useless roadtrip buddy as we drove a couple hours downstate after dinner. I was asleep before we got outside the city.

  2. I second that. The popcorn had potential to be kinda congealed and gross, but it was absolutely delicious, still light and fluffy. Miss you, Mina!
