I'm taking a pause to blog, partially because I'm too sore to do anything else...yesterday, a few coworkers and I did a Spartan Race. Those of you who know me know that
- I really only exercise (mostly) so that I can continue to eat at the rate I do.
- I am a germ-/dirt-o-phobe.
- Once I sign up for a challenge, I'll complete it.
Somehow, several months ago, I was convinced that a Spartan Sprint (a 5K of hill, field, and wood running, climbing over walls of various sizes, crawling under barbed wire through pits of muddy water, jumping over a fire, etc.) would be a good way to spend a Saturday morning. Thanks to all who helped me train (mentally and physically) and let me stand on your shoulders (literally) to get over the wall. In the end, it turned out to be a lot of fun (believe it or not), but I think I've had my fill of mud for the rest of my life -- my shoes and race clothes didn't make it back home.
Here we are before:
During:
And after:
(Thanks for the photos, Sara!)
There was little food involved in this experience (unless you count the "pomegranate" flavored energy chew before the race, and the hot dog and free beer after the race), but I thought I'd post on the "Bev" side of things for once.
Am I surprised that you did it? Mm, not really. Will you do it again? Perhaps not.
