This is my jam.

This weekend probably wraps up the rest of my stone fruit adventures for the season...fall coats are out, and butternut squash is on sale!

My dear friend and neighbor (with whom I've enjoyed several food adventures in the past year) made the most amazing ginger-peach jam with last weekend's haul. I am personally a huge fan of ginger, but occasionally it can be overwhelming to some. Not the case with this batch - the subtle freshness added a little something special to the sunny peach flavor, and it all melted over hot buttered biscuits straight from the oven. Warmed up slightly, the ginger was even more subtle (I enjoyed a cold dollop over Greek yogurt this morning, and the ginger totally perked up my morning).

Along with the jam, Janet brought in tow her roommate's kitten. Stormy (her cat) and Oliver (my own little ginger) followed each other tentatively around, and they were generally tolerant enough of each other that we each enjoyed two biscuits and a cup of afternoon tea. Our play date ended abruptly when their play date was definitively over...but we will try again soon.

  2. Kitties are too cute.
And I'd like that kind of an afternoon tea...delish in many ways ;)
Also, ginger apple pie, ginger peach jam - there's a theme here? Try ginger shortbread...
